January 2020
January was a busy month for our volunteers. During our December event, it was found that our mess room roof was leaking. January’s job was to replace the felt before too much damage was caused. The ticket office felt is just as old and so this was replaced too and both buildings should now remain dry. The ticket office received some more care and attention as a start was made boarding the inside. This should help make it more comfortable to use.
Our platform entrance gate has had a modification in an attempt to stop our eager customers from walking underneath the barrier
Rolling stock received lots of attention with fitness to run exams completed on most items and a few adjustments made. The carriage footrests were painted and are looking smart, Michael Faraday was tested and is fit for use and the P-way wagon is now unrecognisable as it has been transformed from a tatty platform to a smart ballast wagon.
Sarah had a pinion gear reattached but unfortunately, it was found that we have more problems. The C and D wheel sets didn’t rotate during testing, it’s suspected the motors will need to be removed again.
Finally, some advancement was made with the signalling. Track bonds started to be installed and a removable signal post was created.
